Benj is set to begin his first day at high school, following his older sister Alyssa, who has faced challenges with self-esteem at Waymont High. He is joined by his friends Eddie, Danah, and Connor, all of whom are anxious about the potential encounters with older students, including the notorious troublemaker Ruby, who has been assigned to guide Benj. Danah's sibling is planning a large celebration, and her younger brother wishes to join, but only Benj has received an invitation. He plans to leverage this opportunity to get closer to his crush, Bailey, who is also a friend of Alyssa. Mr. Studebaker, a chemistry teacher, is uncertain about attending the party.
