The directorial debut of Anna Kendrick is a complete triumph. The plot of Woman of the Hour Myflixer, which is based on real events, centers on Cheryl, a struggling actress who gets cast in a popular bachelor program from the 1970s and ends up picking Rodney Alcala. She is unaware that, despite his attractiveness and brilliance, he is a serial killer who preys on weak women and kills them. The best performance of Anna Kendrick's career was in the role of Cheryl. She skillfully conveys a wide range of emotions, to the point where we empathize with her when she finally realizes what Rodney is and the subsequent sensations of horror. Her guidance is just as shocking, if not more so.
