Ghostlight follows the story of Dan, a construction worker who befriends a theater worker named Rita while working near a theater. To his surprise, Dan ends up being cast in their production of Romeo and Juliet. As his troubled daughter, Daisy, also joins the play, both father and daughter realize that the play reflects events in their own lives.

The connection between Keith Kupferer, Katherine Mallen Kupferer, and their last names is not a mere coincidence. In fact, they are a real-life family portraying a family in the movie. Tara Mallen, Kupferer's wife, takes on the role of Dan's wife and Daisy's mother, Sharon. The authenticity of their chemistry is undeniable, as they are not entirely acting. While all of them are accomplished actors, the fact that they are a real family playing a fictional family adds an extra layer of believability.
